The Arizona Game and Fish Department wants to spur on a younger generation of conscientious hunters and anglers with $75,000 in award money.

Grants are available to Arizona-based nonprofit and noncommerical organizations for projects related to hunting, angling, shooting, trapping, recruitment, retention and reactivation. The program is meant to address the decline in outdoor recreation participation nationally.

“This grant program continues to provide much-needed funding for Arizona’s conservation organizations, which are the backbone of wildlife conservation and the teachers of the next generation of hunters and anglers,” according to Doug Burt, Game and Fish's recruitment, retention and reactivation manager. “We appreciate these valued organizations for their hosting of hands-on, mentored events and projects for folks who want to learn, but maybe don’t know where to get started.”

According to a release, the deadline to apply is Aug. 20.
