Amid affordable housing shortage, developments must change with new assured water rules

Since the state announced it would pause giving certificates of assured water supply to some new developments that rely only on groundwater, there have been many conversations about the impact the move would have on both Arizona's water supplies and housing market.

On the latter point, an official with the Home Builders of Central Arizona told media outlets that housing affordability would "be a challenge moving forward," but supporters of the action point out opportunities for infill development and homes closer to city centers.

The Show spoke with Paula Randolph, associate director of the Babbitt Center for Land and Water Policy at the Lincoln Institute, about these issues.
