A federal judge in Arizona on Monday gave a Florida man 2-and-a-half years in prison for conspiring to commit computer fraud and steal cryptocurrency.

The length of his sentence is exactly what prosecutors wanted.

The prison stint for Jordan Persad comes with an additional three years of probation and a roughly $1 million restitution bill.

Federal prosecutors say in court records that Persad rose to become the coordinator of a scam that hinged on hijacking control of cellphones to access cryptocurrency accounts and empty them.

Some victims lost their life’s savings, while Persad reportedly bought designer clothes and luxury watches.

His Florida defense lawyer notes that the scam began when Persad was still a minor.

Prosecutors cited his youth and cooperation when requesting a 30-month sentence.
