More Arizonans are expected to travel over Thanksgiving weekend compared to last year.

AAA Arizona says more than 1.12 million people in our state will travel, up 3% from last year. Nationwide, the auto club says 88% of travelers will drive to their Thanksgiving destination.

Deloitte’s annual holiday travel survey, which focuses between Thanksgiving and mid-January, finds 48% of Americans will travel. Plans are up across all ages and income levels, especially baby boomers. Last year, one in five holiday travelers was a boomer; this year, it’s expected to be about one in three.

Deloitte’s survey found 18% of respondents are significantly cutting back on travel, while the same amount is doing more. For those not traveling, the most common responses were can’t afford it and traveling is too expensive right now.
