The Pima County Board of Supervisors has approved a plan to adopt a set of policies to reduce generational poverty.

The supervisors approved what’s called the Prosperity Initiative in a 3-1 vote last week. County officials say it’s a set of policies that came from a collaborative effort made up of representatives from Tucson and nearby cities and towns.

The group spent more than a year meeting with stakeholders, including community members, business owners and non-profits.

County officials say they aim to improve conditions for low-income families and high-poverty areas with policies that expanding educational opportunities, housing mobility, transportation options and others changes.
