A Phoenix man has been sentenced to more than nine years in prison for a string of bank robberies in 2019. The man robbed five Valley banks over a five-month span.

Vivian Earle, 42, was convicted by a jury in June and sentenced Thursday in U.S. District Court to nine years and one month.

Earle stole more than $34,000 during the spree, hitting three Wells Fargo locations, one Chase branch and one Bank of America. He was arrested after the fifth heist, when a teller hid a tracking device with the cash, and a customer also followed Earle’s vehicle.

The case was investigated by both the FBI and Phoenix police.
