A dramatic attempt to steal Picassos and Warhols from a downtown Scottsdale art gallery ended in a rooftop arrest early Sunday.

A tripped alarm alerted an employee, who called police. Responding officers discovered a car in the alley behind the American Fine Art gallery, with a ladder leading to the roof.

"We used one of our patrol drones to actually be able to see up on the roof and see that there was somebody up there, and that there was some items that were on the rooftop," said Scottsdale officer Aaron Bolin. "Later on, we found out that those items were pieces of artwork."

Police say they found a 32-year-old California man, Harpreet Singh, on the roof. Singh faces charges of burglary, theft and possession of burglary tools.
