'It doesn’t mean you’re safe': Arizona doctor shares caution around COVID-19 guideline revisions
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is weighing changes to COVID-19 guidelines, including reducing post-fever isolation from five days to just one day.
Dr. Frank LoVecchio, an District Medical Group emergency medicine physician who cares for patients at Valleywise Health Medical Center, says there could be drawbacks.
"If you are immunosuppressed, older, at risk for hospitalization or death, you know, you should be very very cautious with exposing yourself to others. Even as they come up with these guidelines, it doesn’t mean you’re safe," he said.
LoVecchio noted that isolation can lead to other problems, such as depression and lost productivity. He added that people can be contagious for up to 21 days.
