Pima County's climate action plan includes greenhouse emission reduction projects

A climate action plan Pima County officials submitted to the EPA outlines a list of environmental projects the county hopes to take on over the next several years.

Pima County officials approved a four-year Climate Pollution Reduction Grant from the agency last year and began setting up projects and initiatives that would work toward an EPA directive to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.

The agency is now accepting applications for a roughly $4.6 billion climate action program that uses money from the Inflation Reduction Act.

Pima County sent along its plan for that application this month. It outlines more than two dozen projects proposed for Tucson, South Tucson, Oro Valley and the Tohono O’odham Nation that aim to reduce emissions countywide. Officials say the EPA plan is one part of a larger climate protection initiative for the region.
