A new, national survey shows that support for same-sex marriage and other LGBTQ protections have declined.

The non-partisan Public Religion Research Institute surveyed more than 22,000 adults. The organization looked at issues including same-sex marriage and non-discriminations policies and found that support had fallen.

Nate Rhoton is the CEO of One-n-Ten, an LGBTQ-youth advocacy group in Phoenix.

"I did think with it being almost 10 years ago that President Barack Obama came out in support for same-sex marriage, that this was a moot point and the train left the station. However, I think what this new data underscores is that there's no guarantee for that.," Rhoton said.

The survey also found that support for same-sex marriage among Americans ages 18 to 29 has been in decline since 2018.
