The Arizona Attorney General is asking a court to take control of a Mesa assisted living facility. 

Last week, Attorney General Kris Mayes filed a lawsuit alleging elder abuse and consumer fraud by the owners of Heritage Village Assisted Living.

This latest filing seeks to remove the current owners from control while the lawsuit is pending.

In a statement, Mayes said she is asking the court to bring in a receiver to run the facility correctly and ensure residents are receiving the care they are paying for. The receivership application describes Heritage Village as “perhaps the most notorious assisted living facility in Arizona.”

In January, the Arizona Department of Health Services announced that it intends to revoke the facility’s license due to a repeated pattern of numerous and severe violations of Arizona law.
