Citizenship and Immigration Services fee increases begin — some fees more than double

The cost of a host of services at Citizenship and Immigration Services is going up starting Monday, April 1.

The agency announced the increases at the end of January — marking the first price hike since 2016 for things like green cards, work permits and other services.

Among the most dramatic increases are for employers applying for agricultural work permits — from $460 to nearly $1,100.

H1B visas — which are required for foreign workers in tech and other specialty industries — are also increasing from $460 to $780.

Earlier this year, a group of employers and visa applicants sued the agency to stop the increases. A judge denied their motion to pause the April 1 start date but did not dismiss the case.
