Gas prices are on the rise in Arizona, closing last week at their highest level since October. The average has risen to $4.14 per gallon, up 7 cents from the previous week, and 51 cents above the national average of $3.63.

Maricopa County is reporting the highest prices in Arizona, with an average of $4.42 per gallon.

Patrick De Haan is the head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy, a company that offers apps for tracking gas prices. He says the increases are seasonal.

“Nothing overseas is really having an active role in prices. That could change if Israel chooses to escalate and respond to Iran’s attacks,” De Haan said.

Arizona isn’t the only state experiencing an uptick in gas prices. California, Washington, Oregon and Nevada top the list of other states that have also seen a hike at the pump.

As California’s refineries undergo maintenance, De Haan expects prices to remain above $4 for the next few weeks before receding in July.

“There is the potential that we could see prices back under the $4 gallon mark at some point over the next couple of months,” De Haan said.
