Gilbert police have arrested two juveniles in connection with a fire extinguisher that was thrown off the roof of a parking garage and struck a man in February 2023.

They are the latest in a series of arrests related to teen violence in Gilbert.

The Gilbert Police Department has been facing sharp criticism over its handling of investigations relating to teen violence.

Last week, the department asked the community for help with the fire extinguisher case — almost 14 months after it happened.

Ann Doucette has been a Gilbert resident for 26 years, and she said this case is appalling.

"Citizens have continued to voice their concerns about the lack of monitoring at the Gilbert garage. This incident is a reminder of the consequences of delayed response," said Doucette. "We must address why it took 14 months for this incident to come to light and why such delays continue to persist."

Gilbert Police Chief Michael Soelberg later told the Town Council that he expects an investigation into the Gilbert Goons — a group allegedly linked to the killing of teenager Preston Lord in October — to be completed soon.
