Paradise Valley Ordinance Regulates Drone Operators

The town of Paradise Valley adopted an ordinance this week that would regulate the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), also know as drones.

Town attorney Andrew Miller said the ordinance, which is now in effect, takes a balanced approach.

"It respects private property owners’ ability on their own property to fly a drone they may purchase for themselves or children, while still regulating the ability to not fly that drone over their neighbors property or over public streets or parks where they might endanger others or invade their privacy," said Miller.

An operator could fly their drone over public property if they obtain a special event permit. Commercial drone users will have to register their UAV with the Paradise Valley Police Department.
