Report: Push To Eliminate Food Deserts Fails To Gain Momentum

With First Lady Michele Obama leading a healthy initiative, a group of big food retailers committed that, by 2016, they would bring supermarkets or convenience stores to areas that were without them—so-called food deserts.

But a new report by the Associated Press indicated momentum never really developed. AP reporter Mike Schneider, who looked at the data, spoke about the program.  Mark Stapp, director of the Master of Real Estate Development Program at Arizona State University, spoke about Valley food deserts.
