Those traveling on Valley freeways this week have no doubt seen the Star Wars-themed messages aimed at getting drivers' attention.

The Arizona Department of Transportation is behind the electronic signs, which say things like “Aggressive Driving is the Path to the Dark Side,” and “Trust the Force, But Always Buckle Up.”

The messages are a good-nature attempt by the agency to get creative, but are they trivializing traffic safety and causing distractions for drivers? ADOT spokesman Doug Nintzel spoke about the topic.
