Glendale City Council delays voting on budget cuts

January 09, 2013

At its final meeting, the current Glendale City Council did not vote on a major budget cut. Members voted to table a proposal to trim $6 million – which would mean about 64 full time jobs.

The current council decided it was best to wait until Mayor-elect Jerry Weiers and three council members are sworn in next week, and until Glendale has a permanent city manager. The search for a city manager is getting underway, but it’s unclear how long that will take.

The proposed cuts come after ongoing budget woes and an arena management deal with expected Phoenix Coyotes buyer Greg Jamison.
