If you pack it in, pack it out. That’s the message from Kaibab National Forest after rangers were left to pick up more than a 1,000 pounds of trash near Oak Hill Snow Play Area just outside Flagstaff.

Piles and piles of brightly colored, plastic sleds were ditched by people who visited the area after the last big snowfall.

Jackie Banks, with Kaibab National Forest, says "This has occurred in the past but it’s getting worse. We’re seeing bigger and bigger problems and people becoming kind of callous to the fact that they have some responsibilities as well."

With the holiday weekend and more snow in the forecast, Banks hopes visitors remember to leave no trace after playing in the forest.

She also says there will be increased patrols, additional dumpsters and an army of volunteers ready to help clean up.
