Extra Storm Clean Up Saturday In Ahwatukee

July 20, 2013

Extra clean up crews will be on the streets of Ahwatukee Saturday. They will be out there for several more days cleaning up the mess left behind by a storm earlier this week. So far city crews have removed more than 100 tons of trees, branches, leaves and other green waste as well as another three tons of debris. The Tuesday storm which the weather service has described as a microburst, hit the south part of Ahwatukee with 60 mile an hour winds toppling trees, saguaros and damaging building and homes.

The city has placed large roll off bins throughout the area where residents and landscapers can dump the green waste. The city will also have a dozen street sweepers in the Ahwatukee neighborhoods to clean up the muck left on many of the streets after the storm. Private contractors are also working with homeowners associations in the area to remove debris from common areas
