For the first time since 2008, ASU is honoring two journalists with the Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Journalism.

Judy Woodruff and the late Gwen Ifill will receive the 2017 award given by the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication.

Woodruff, the anchor and managing editor of the “PBS NewsHour,” will receive the 34th-annual award in October. She will also accept the award on behalf of Ifill.

Ifill served as her co-anchor from 2013 until her death from cancer in November.

Woodruff and Ifill marked a milestone in journalism, as no national news organization had ever paired two female journalists as co-anchors for an evening newscast.
