Arizona has a handful of national monuments that the federal government will be reviewing in the coming months.

Last month, President Donald Trump signed an executive order instructing the secretary of the Interior to examine national monuments that cover more than 100,000 acres to determine whether they are in line with the requirements and objectives of the Antiquities Act, among other things.

On Friday, that list was released, and Arizona plays a prominent role.

The state has more monuments under the lens than any other one except for California. The list includes Ironwood Forest, Vermilion Cliffs, the Sonoran Desert and a section of the Grand Canyon, as well as ones in neighboring states like Bears Ears and Gold Butte.

Public comments will be accepted about all the monuments as part of the review process.
