With a suspect under arrest in connection with Phoenix’s "Serial Street Shooter" case, Maryvale community members responded Wednesday that the neighborhood isn’t resting easy — yet.

Block watch and community activists are asking for more transparency on suspect Aaron Saucedo’s case. Documents related to Saucedo’s arrest have been sealed by the county, and community leaders say by releasing more information, the public can stay informed on what led to his arrest.

The shootings began in Phoenix’s Maryvale neighborhood, where several people were gunned down while outside their homes.

Cartwright school district board member Lydia Hernandez says she doesn’t want to see another case like the "Freeway Shooter" case, where all charges were dropped against the accused.

“We’re not casting doubt but as Maryvale residents we want to make sure we do our due diligence and that the person is treated with his due process, because we want to make sure we got the right person.”

Saucedo was booked on 26 felony counts linked to the shootings.

Hernandez is calling for a summary of the case to be released.

“I don’t know what all those facts are, I know they’re confidential and I’m asking for transparency," she said. "I don’t want to feel a false sense of security until this person is really, we’ve the right person and he’s behind bars.”

Phoenix police say the serial shootings left at least nine dead and two injured.
