The number of displaced people around the world reached more than 60 million in 2015. But at the same time, the number of refugees entering the U.S. has dropped sharply in the last year.

According to the Pew Research Center, the number of refugees entering the United States each month has declined sharply so far in fiscal year 2017. They reported recently that all but four states reported declines in monthly arrivals.

President Trump issued an executive order calling for a ceiling of 50,000 total refugee arrivals in fiscal year 2017, which is less than half of the limit set by the Obama administration.

But that hasn’t been implemented yet as the president’s travel ban is held up in court. And this decline in refugees started during the end of the Obama administration.

To break down these numbers further, we’re joined now by Philip Conner, research associate with Pew.
