Courts from around Pima County will be in downtown Tucson on Aug. 26 for citizens to pay fines and settle outstanding warrants.

This is the second year in which Pima County courts have pooled their resources this way.

Tucson Court Administrator Chris Hale said this provides citizens with warrants a chance to take care of them on their own time, which is better than the alternative.

“The example I use is if you’re speeding and the police officer pulls you over for speeding and runs your record and finds out that you have an active warrant they have to arrest you and book you into a county jail," Hale said.

Hale said public defenders will be available at the event, which will last half the day. Hale said the events were originally scheduled to be a full day but waning interest at recent gatherings led officials to shorten it.
