Geraldine Peten Appointed As Replacement District 4 Legislator
After a state legislator resigned for allegedly violating Arizona's clean election financing laws, the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors has named his replacement.
The Board of Supervisors unanimously appointed Geraldine Peten on Wednesday morning. Peten was one of three candidates to be considered as former Rep. Jesus Rubalcava’s replacement in legislative district 4. Peten has served on several national, state and local political campaigns. She’s also an experienced educator.

Rubalcava was facing scrutiny from the Arizona Citizens Clean Elections Commission for his use of public campaign-finance funds in 2016. Despite his resignation, the freshman lawmaker still faces possible penalties.
