The Coconino National Forest northeast of Prescott is trying to improve the Oak Creek Watershed with several projects, like installing toilets at some sites. It’s also proposing to decommission about 19 miles of roads.

The actions are aimed at making the water quality better, among other things. According to the U.S. Forest Service, Oak Creek water hasn’t met state standards and has E. coli contamination.

On Wednesday, the Forest Service hosts a meeting at Yavapai College. Officials are taking public comments on the plan until next week.
