A Mesa man who sold ammunition to the gunman in last year’s deadly mass shooting in Las Vegas is facing federal charges. Court documents obtained by the Associated Press show Douglas Haig has been charged manufacturing armor-piercing ammo without a license.

The complaint filed in federal court in Phoenix says that unfired armor-piercing bullets found inside the hotel room where the attack was launched contained Haig’s fingerprints. Court records don't say if the ammunition was used in the attack.

In a press conference, Haig said when he sold 720 rounds of ammunition to Stephen Paddock, the man was well-dressed and polite.

“At no time did I see anything suspicious or odd or any kind of a tell, anything that would set off an alarm,” Haig said.

Weeks later, Paddock would kill 58 people. Haig said he was sickened when a federal agent told him of the massacre hours after it happened.

He has since closed his ammunition business.
