Mesa is banking on new mapping technology to attract new business.

It’s called AerialMesa and it provides a bird’s eye view of the city’s five business districts. Real estate brokers, site selectors and company representatives can zoom in and out each district to view vacant space and available land.

“We want to highlight the vacant pieces of property to show where new opportunities are and where new businesses can locate and grow and operate,” said JD Beatty, project manager for Mesa’s Economic Development Office.

He said the site also lists major employers, recent investments and amenities, “Which show the different major retail chains that are nearby which is important for employers who want to know where their employees are going to eat for lunch and stay at for hotels.”

AerialMesa features the Riverview area, Fiesta District, Falcon District, Gateway North (Elliot Road Technology Corridor) and Gateway South (Pecos Advanced Manufacturing Zone and Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport).

Beatty said the downtown district should be added to the site in the next couple months.
