A settlement is in the works in a lawsuit filed by a concessionaire over a lucrative contract at the Grand Canyon.

A trip to the Grand Canyon might get a little pricier, as fees to more than 100 national parks could be going up soon. That means a weeklong pass to Grand Canyon National Park would increase $5 to $30 a carload.

The possible increase is part of an effort by the National Park Service to bring in more money for visitor services. The agency also wants to address a backlog of projects ahead of its centennial anniversary in 2016.

Other parks that could see fee increases include iconic spots as Yosemite, Yellowstone and Zion. The public has 60 days to weigh in on the proposal.

A Park Service spokesperson said the agency could choose not to implement the fee hikes if there is significant outcry.
