Big League Dreams was built in 2007.

Gilbert closed Elliot District Park, formerly known as Big League Dreams, one year ago this week.

The town council recently approved another round of repairs—$2.6 million will fund fixes for the park’s ball fields, restaurants, dugouts and batting cages.

Gilbert is currently in litigation with the park’s former operator, Big League Dreams, over how the facility was run and maintained.

The town settled a previous lawsuit against the builder.

"We are all frustrated with this. It’s just a slippery slope and it never ends,” Councilman Victor Petersen said at a June council meeting.

The council also discussed what it would take for the town to operate the park itself.

“We know what an amazing amenity this could be for the town, but it needs to be available to the public,” said Mayor Jenn Daniels.

The town plans to have the park open again by February.
