Men’s ice hockey just got a big promotion at Arizona State University. Canada’s national pastime has gone from a university club sport to varsity status.

Men’s ice hockey joins more than 20 other NCAA sports at the school, from football to sand volleyball.

This most recent addition was made possible by hockey supporters who came together to donate $32 million to elevate the program. Last year, the men’s ice hockey club team had its best record ever, with 38 wins and two losses.

According to an ASU press release, the school has identified potential women’s varsity sports to add as well, with an announcement coming up later.
