After more than 40 years, a judge’s ruling could finally mark the beginning of the end of a lawsuit over desegregation in Tucson schools

In 1974, a federal court ordered the Tucson Unified School District to desegregate its schools. But, only in the last year has the district finally shown some willingness to comply, according to a federal judge overseeing the case. But, while everyone seems to agree that they would like to end court supervision in the case, plaintiffs are concerned this is a rush to judgment.
