Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery has been in the news lately for being outspoken about comprehensive immigration reform in the U.S. and for his work on the case of single mother Shanesha Taylor.

Montgomery had agreed to defer prosecuting Taylor on child abuse allegations if she put a certain percentage of donations she’d received aside for her kids.

We spoke with Montgomery about Taylor and about an op-ed by Peter Steinmetz, who was arrested at Sky Harbor airport while he was carrying his AR-15 weapon.
