Arizona lawmakers took their first votes on Arizona’s Drought Contingency Plan (DCP) on Tuesday.

The House Natural Resources, Energy and Water committee approved the six bills and one resolution that make up the DCP.

The state is facing a deadline of Thursday to sign off on the plan. Otherwise, the federal government said it will step in and impose water restrictions.

Jerod McDonald-Evoy, reporter for the Arizona Mirror, was at the committee hearing and joined The Show to talk about what he heard.
