New Book Explores The Future Of The Grand Canyon With Climate Change In Mind

There's a maintenance backlog at Grand Canyon National Park that persists, even as the state celebrates the park’s centennial anniversary. But a far larger challenge looms in the park’s future: climate change.

With changes in weather patterns, plus the constant pressure of private interests, what will the canyon look like 100 years from now?

That’s the question author Stephen Nash is asking in his new book, "Grand Canyon for Sale: Public Lands Versus Private Interests in the Era of Climate Change."

Nash joined The Show to talk more about it, and he said even though it seems like a monument as internationally renowned as the Grand Canyon could never be truly threatened, that’s not necessarily the case.
