Jennifer Dokes worked for the Phoenix Gazette and the Arizona Republic for the past 30 years. But with dramatic changes going on at the newspaper, Dokes chose to leave earlier this month.

Before joining the editorial board, she had been a reporter and copy editor.

Dokes spoke about her career and how it kept her connected to the community.
