Divers are recovering chunks of Lake Havasu City’s London Bridge, one piece at a time. The well-known bridge was damaged by a truck in an accident last month.

So far, divers have pulled 30 pieces from Bridgewater Channel. Larger pieces that weigh up to 500 pounds are expected be recovered later with a crane.

After the Dec. 12th accident, city workers temporarily replaced 40 feet of granite railing with plywood and barricades.

Lake Havasu City founder Robert McCulloch bought the bridge from the city of London in 1968. The price? Approximately $2 million. It was brought piece-by-piece to Arizona.
