The Arizona Cardinals were hoping to become the first NFL team ever to host a Super Bowl.

But a lot of Valley football fans had their hearts broken last weekend when the Cardinals lost their first-round playoff game to the Carolina Panthers.

The people who own and run hotels and restaurants, though, were probably less disappointed because that means thousands more out of town fans will likely make their way to the Valley for the big game.

But Economist Elliott Pollack said local residents don’t usually attend the game itself.
