Ride-sharing companies Uber and Lyft are no longer under review by the Arizona Department of Weights and Measures or the state Office of Administrative Hearings. 

In a statement issued on Wednesday night, Weights and Measures Director Andy Tobin said the decision is in keeping with Governor Doug Ducey’s agenda of supporting new and entrepreneurial-style businesses. 

And the timing for the companies couldn’t be much better, what with all of the out-of-town Super Bowl visitors.

Governor Doug Ducey spokesman Daniel Scarpinato said this short-term move is meant to clear up some of the clouds around Uber and Lyft.

Scarpinato said the administration is focused on strengthening the state’s business environment.

The presence of Uber and Lyft in Arizona caused a lot of tension during the 2014 legislative session, especially among traditional cab companies.
