The office of Mayor Kate Gallego says they are aware of a credible threat made by a member of the Phoenix Police Department to harm the mayor. 

A spokesperson for Gallego said additional police protection has been provided to the mayor.

In a statement, the Phoenix police confirmed an ongoing investigation into a Phoenix police officer.

A criminal investigation is being conducted by the Tempe Police Department while the Phoenix Police Department’s Professional Standards Bureau is conducting an internal investigation.

Phoenix police says the officer involved in the threat allegation has been "assigned to home."
