The Pima County Sheriff’s Department is reporting an uptick in both street racing and drifting in Tucson, including a recent video that shows cars blocking off a popular intersection from all four sides and drifting in the middle.

Pima County Sheriff’s Deputy James Allerton says this behavior is not only inconveniencing drivers during their commutes, but dangerous for all involved.

“This kind of behavior is a danger to both the drivers, and the community at large. It’s very, very reckless behavior, and it’s certainly reckless driving,” said Allerton.

Allerton says the department will continue to investigate any incidents involving drifting and street racing, and will take steps to make arrests and confiscate vehicles from violators.
