Firefighters who have been fighting a wildfire burning in northern Arizona for nearly two weeks are giving unused supplies of food and water to the surrounding communities.

KPHO-TV reports that first responders as well as local and federal agencies donated two pickup trucks full of provisions on Friday to St. Mary's Food Bank Alliance.

Food bank officials say the donations include 1,000 pounds of apples, beef jerky, oatmeal and fruit juice boxes.

Authorities say the food is what was left at various camps firefighters set up while battling the human-caused Slide Fire in Oak Creek Canyon.

The food bank plans to distribute the donations across northern Arizona.

The 33.1-square-mile fire began May 20 and is now 90 percent contained.

Approximately 200 firefighters and other personnel remain at the site.
