A Georgia company's plan to build multifamily housing for Northern Arizona University students is on hold.

Andrew Young, senior vice president of Athens-based Landmark Properties, withdrew a zoning application for the development this week. The company could resubmit it later.

The project faced stiff opposition from residents of a Flagstaff trailer park who would be displaced if the 650-bed complex known as The Standard moves forward. The surrounding community also voiced concerns about increased traffic and safety.

The owner of the Arrowhead Village has said he wants to sell the trailer park.

The Arizona Daily Sun quoted Young as saying that Landmark Properties wants to work in partner with the community, not be its enemy. Young said he'll do so with a different development team.
