How #RedForEd Teacher Strike May Impact Rural Arizona Schools

After the results of last week’s vote to walk out were announced, there were some questions about the geographical makeup of those who cast ballots. Specifically, were teachers and support staff at rural schools represented?

It wasn’t clear, for example, how many schools in rural parts of the state had an Arizona Educators United liaison to help with the vote.

Wes Brownfield, executive director of the Arizona Rural Schools Association, gave his take on whether the vote to strike did, in fact, represent rural teachers and support staff.
