Carmen Marquez is a bilingual journalist and producer. She has covered both domestic and international stories in Mexico and United States.
Prior to joining KJZZ, Marquez was a anchor/producer for Telemundo Yuma-El Centro, and then transitioned into Radio Campesina, a Spanish radio network. There she reported national issues related to immigrant communities, mainly in Washington, California, Nevada and Arizona. Marquez also hosted the talk show “Point of View,” where she served the needs of Spanish-speaking immigrants by educating them about worker rights, health and immigration.
Marquez was born in the small border town of Yuma, Arizona, and at age 10, moved with her family to the state of Michoacan, Mexico. Growing up in Mexico, she was surrounded by protests and political oppression — which is the reason her interest in local politics and government flourished.
As her side hustle, Marquez hosts “Talking Latino,” a weekly live interview show on Instagram featuring Latinos creating spaces on different platforms around the country..
In her spare time, you can find her looking for coffee.
