Arizona firefighters continue to battle wildfires throughout the state. The fires have closed roads and forced evacuations.

The largest of the current blazes is the Bush Fire, northeast of the Valley, which has grown to more than 64,000 acres, with no containment.

The fire has forced the closure of Beeline Highway and triggered evacuations in Tonto Basin, Punkin Center and Apache Lake.

The Bighorn Fire has forced evacuations in the Tucson area.

Fire spokeswoman Cindy Wolfe said firefighters have made progress in the Bighorn Fire, though high winds were expected Tuesday.

“They should be gusting up to 30 miles an hour this afternoon, and they’ll be prevailing winds, and they’ll be strong out of the south, southwest,” she said.

Elsewhere in the state, the Mangum Fire has shut down access to the Grand Canyon’s North Rim.

Firefighters continue to brace for heavy winds and hot temperatures statewide.

Arizona wildfires have forced road closures throughout the state.

The Bush Fire has forced closure of Highway 87 and parts of Highway 188 northeast of the Valley.

The Bringham Fire in eastern Arizona has closed off Highway 191 south of Hannagan Meadow.

Incident command spokesman Tom Story said that closure could remain in effect for a week.

“This is in an area south of Hannagan Meadow and north of Morenci along highway 191. There are some ranches who are aware of the fire but no evacuations are in place,” he said.

Road closures have also cut off access to the Grand Canyon’s North Rim.

Officials are braced for hot windy weather as they try to gain control of the blazes.
