On Aug. 11, Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden made his running mate official when he chose California Sen. Kamala Harris, making her the first Black woman ever on a presidential ticket.
The choice is being cheered by many groups and criticized by some. But even those who are heartened by the selection are concerned about the attacks that will come from the opposition — in part because of racism.
In her new book "The End of White Politics: How to Heal the Liberal Divide," Zerlina Maxwell — who worked for former President Barack Obama — writes about what needs to change in politics, especially among Democrats, to truly engage more people of color with respect.
The Show spoke with Maxwell recently — before Joe Biden made his vice presidential selection — and talked about just how much the battle over racism is going to make the campaign even tougher.
