After hitting the required benchmarks, five of Arizona’s 15 counties are now able to reopen gyms and movie theaters.

While nightclubs and bars will also be allowed to reopen in those counties, they’ll look very different.

Cochise, Coconino, Greenlee, La Paz and Yavapai counties have hit all three benchmarks considered necessary to reopen and now their gyms, movie theaters, nightclubs and bars can open as long as they follow certain health protocols.

Gyms can only operate at 25% capacity, movie theaters at 50%, and bars and nightclubs must convert to “restaurant service.” Alcohol will still be allowed but no standing around, no mingling, limited waiting rooms and no dancing. Groups, no more than 10, must be seated at tables.

Maricopa, Pima and Pinal counties are one benchmark shy of joining these other five counties in reopening and are expected to hit that benchmark by the end of the week.
