In a briefing Monday addressing the state’s upcoming flu season, Gov. Doug Ducey laid out a plan to prepare for increased infections and expand access to flu shots.

He said that Arizona always takes flu season seriously, but the overlap with this and the COVID-19 pandemic will create further complications.  

The governor read a list of expectations for Arizonans this coming flu season. The state’s plan focuses on the uninsured and underinsured and making sure flu shots are available to them.

Ducey is also prioritizing an increase in flu shots throughout the state, and plans to utilize COVID-19 testing sites.

“It’s simple," said Ducey. "As early as next month when you stop by certain sites for a COVID-19 test, you’ll be able to get a flu shot as well.”

The state will also offer a resource guide, including a vaccine finder and a tool kit to help businesses set up their own flu vaccine clinics. 

Ducey re-emphasized that it’s never been more important to get a flu shot.
